Annual fees are set by the National Federation and are reviewed yearly.

Visitor - £4.00 (maximum of 3 visits)

 

Since January 2018 new arrangements have applied for anyone joining the WI for the first time, i.e., who has not previously been a member of any WI in the last 10 years. New members will pay a pro-rata subscription depending on the quarter in which they join.

1 April 2024 – 30 June - £48.00

1 July 2024 – 30 September - £36.00

1 October 2024 – 31 December - £24.00

1 January 2024 – 31 March 2024 - £12.00

 

Dual members pay £23.60 to their second WI. There is no pro-rata rate for dual membership and the set fee is payable at any time during the year.

How much is membership of Absolutely WI?

Full membership of Absolutely WI will cost £48 in April 2024. This price will apply to all existing members (regardless of when in the year you renew your membership) and any new members joining in Q1 (Apr 2024  - June 2024). Any new members joining in subsequent quarters of the year will be charged the pro-rata rate.

 

A new member is defined as someone who hasn’t been a member of any WI in the past ten years. 

 

Overall, membership to Absolutely WI costs just £4.00 a month.

 

​Where does my membership go?

Your membership fee is split into three parts: 

 

National Federation of WIs (NFWI) – (29%) 

Dorset Federation of WIs (DFWI) –  (22%) 

Absolutely WI –  (49%)

 

​The NFWI and DFWI components contribute towards the running of the WI more widely at national and regional levels. The remaining 49% is used by us to cover the costs of running Absolutely WI. Some of the things we spend your money on include:

 

• Venue hire

• Speakers and activity instructors

• Insurance

• Annual Christmas Party with entertainment

• Other WI District charges

 

I only want to attend some of your events. Do you offer a reduced membership or pay as you go?

Unfortunately, we are only able to offer one type of membership. You are free to attend as many or as few events as you like so we would encourage you to look at our events page to see if you think our programme of events and sub-groups will suit you and be a good value for money. 

 

Why do some of your events cost extra on top of my membership?

In addition to our extensive regular programme of events, we also organise one-off events and workshops throughout the year. Some of these incur additional costs to pay for instructors and resources. These are hugely popular with our members but entirely optional and any additional costs are always made clear.

 

I want to take a break from Absolutely WI and re-join later in the year. Will I pay the pro-rata rate if I re-join?

If you have been a member of any WI up until March 2024, full membership of Absolutely WI will cost you £48 in April 2024 regardless of when in the year you renew your membership. Only new members (someone who hasn’t been a member of any WI in the past ten years) are eligible for the pro-rata rates.

 

Do you offer discounted memberships for those of us on a low income or in receipt of benefits or other support?

This is something we would love to be able to do but are unable to due to rules at a national level.
